A great option for gluten free sushi in Flagstaff, Arizona is Karma Sushi. They only use organic, gluten free Tamari soy sauce in all of their dishes! This is the first sushi restaurant (or any type of restaurant for that matter) that I have ever heard make that claim. It certainly reduced the chance of cross contamination or accidental gluten exposure, which made me very happy:-)
I found Karma Sushi in an online search prior to vacationing in Flagstaff. We didn’t have reservations and had a wait for tables the night we ate there. It was worth the wait though! Fresh and delicious sushi with a solid awareness about gluten issues. They designate on their menu which items can be made gluten free with a “^” next to the item. They also indicate which items are vegetarian. It made it very easy to order and the staff was great with answering questions (even with as busy as they were).
In addition to some really inventive gluten free rolls, they also have Kobe Beef burgers (no gluten free buns), 3 varieties of gluten free fried rice, hot and cold bento boxes and gluten free miso soup on the menu. For dessert, they have my family’s favorite gluten free Mochi Ice Cream. If you haven’t had Mochi Ice Cream, they are small balls of ice cream wrapped in a sweet rice dough. They are as unique as they are delectable. Oh, and the cocktails were fantastic too, by the way;-)
Karma Sushi is located in the downtown area of Flagstaff. There are lots of neat shops and other bars and restaurants around to check out after your wonderful gluten free meal from Karma Sushi.
