Maple Glazed Bacon Wrapped Green Beans

Nov 18, 2018 · 2 Comments

Oh my!  This is a bacon lover's dream.  Maple Glazed Bacon Wrapped Green Beans are sweet, savory, a little tart, crunchy, smokey and questionably healthy.  I mean, there are about 5 green beans in each bundle, there are some good nutrients in there!  So I will continue telling myself how healthy they are;-)

With only 4 ingredients total, these are super easy to whip up! And they are definitely food allergy friendly.  No nuts, dairy, eggs, shellfish, gluten or soy used here!  They are paleo friendly as well.  So just about everyone can enjoy these tasty bundles of goodness.

Wrap & Bake

To keep things as easy and quick as possible, I usually buy washed and trimmed green beans.  It definitely costs more, but when time is short, I am willing to pay extra to make life easier.  French green beans are often packaged in a similar length which also makes wrapping the bundles a little easier and neater, but the conventional green beans work well too!  Fortunately there are a lot of good options out there:-)

My system for getting these little bundles of goodness together starts by lining a large baking sheet with parchment paper.  I create a work station with the bacon and the green beans near the baking sheet.  Start by selecting handfuls of green beans. Line them up on the baking sheet to give yourself an idea of how much room you have and how many bundles will fit on the pan.  Then wrap a full slice of bacon around the bundle of beans by starting at one end and working your way down.  Place them seam side down on the tray an inch or two apart.

Bake, Glaze, Bake

Pop your Bacon Wrapped Green Beans into the oven and allow them to partially bake.  Mix the dijon mustard and maple syrup together while they are baking.  Carefully remove them from the oven.  Drizzle or use the back of a spoon or a pastry brush to coat each of the bundles with the glaze.  Then they go back in the oven to finish cooking.  The glaze thickens and caramelizes while the bacon crisps up.  It is such a fabulous sweet, tangy and salty combination!  Yummm!!!  As much as my family loves these Maple Glazed Bacon Wrapped Green Beans, sometimes I am in a hurry (or I am lazy, shhh, don't tell) and I don't glaze them.  They are still devoured in record time!  In the last photo below, the Maple Glazed Bacon Wrapped Green Beans are on the left, unglazed are on the right.

  • 1 Lb package of sliced bacon
  • 1.5 Lb fresh green beans - washed and trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
